Procedure at the Municipality
If you want to obtain a Dutch driving license you must submit your application at the local district council office (Dutch: stadsdeelkantoor).

An application for a Dutch driving licence costs €40,- (2013 rates). The Government Road Transport Agency (Rijksdient voor het Wegverkeer, RDW) takes your application is being process. This takes two weeks.
After two weeks you will receive a letter from the RDW that your licence can be retreived. This can only be done in person.
Note: You hand in your current license when you apply for a Dutch driving license. You are not permitted to drive when your application is being processed!
Applications cannot be processed more quickly than two weeks.
